Vacancies for Consultant Tutors and Assessors to support assessments and training


The Police Crime Prevention Academy delivers National Vocational Qualifications (NVQs), eLearning and Continuing Professional Development (CPD) courses that are recognised by the College of Policing and by the National Police Chiefs’ Council as the required qualifications for designated specialist police roles. They are also accessed by the police service and other organisations involved in supporting crime prevention, problem solving and designing out crime.
 
The Academy currently has opportunities for suitably experienced individuals to work on a consultancy basis to undertake assessing or training delivery or both as decided upon by the Academy.

Contract for services required:

The work will primarily be the assessment of work-based evidence submitted by candidates undertaking National Vocational Qualifications (NVQs) from Level 2 up to Level 5

  • You must have or be working towards an assessor qualification that’s equivalent to the ProQual Level 3 Award in Assessing Competence in the Work Environment (Essential)
  • There may also be opportunities to develop content and/or deliver training.  To avail yourself of this option, you must have or be working towards a training qualification that’s equivalent to the ProQual Level 3 Teaching, Training and Assessing Certificate
  • You will be contracted to take on assessments on an ad hoc basis (please note, our busiest period for assessments is annually - January to March)
  • You will be supervised by the Academy’s Lead Internal Quality Assurance (IQA) Verifier, and managed by the Academy’s Learning and Development (L&D) Manager
  • The work will be completed remotely and within a specified time period
  • You will be responsible for any ‘business interest’ declarations that are required with your employer if you are currently employed
  • You must declare any existing consultancy work that you are or have been involved in over the last 5 years
  • You will be subject to NPPV1 security/vetting checks via the Metropolitan Police Service or other police force on commencement and expiration of your security/vetting check. You may also be subject to ongoing integrity checks against the Police National Database (PND)

Location: 

Consultants must be prepared to devote adequate workspace for office facilities, provide their own IT equipment and ensure adequate broadband access and speed at their home to undertake assessments. If opportunities arise to deliver training, consultants might be required to travel throughout the UK (when able to do so) but will be predominantly based at their home address. 
Fee(s): £22.50 per hour exclusive of VAT

Our selection panel will call suitable applicants for interview via Microsoft Teams, the format for which will be notified in advance. Interviews will be held on Tuesday 9 and Wednesday 10 July 2024.

You will also be required to undertake security and vetting checks by the Metropolitan Police Service or other police force if successful at interview, and ongoing security and integrity checks during your time providing services on our behalf.
